Grace and Peace, Members and Friends of the Rehoboth Congregational Church!
I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is NEXT week. This year went by incredibly quickly - so much has happened both for me personally, but also for the church! Our village has grown in exponential and grace-filled ways this year. I cannot wait to give thanks for a wonderful year and then turn my attention to the Advent and Christmas seasons.
A few things to note ...
Stewardship & Pledging
- If you have not returned your pledge card yet, please do so as soon as possible! The Trustees are turning their attention to the 2018 budget.
- If you want to see where you stand with your 2017 pledge, Jen Healy, our Financial Secretary, would be happy to look it up for you! Reach out to her by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
- The Restructuring Task Force invites you to come to an open Cabinet Meeting this Sunday, November 19th, after church. They have made some minor adjustments since their presentation in October and would like to create a space to present those updates, answer any questions and receive more feedback.
- Christmas Eve is on a Sunday this year, friends! The liturgical calendar actually calls us to celebrate the 4th Sunday in Advent in the morning and then do Christmas Eve in the evening. I talked to several colleagues about what their churches are doing and then spoke with the Deacons at length about this. Here is where we landed - if we go ahead with three services (the Sunday 10AM and then Christmas Eve 5PM and 11PM) we just do not think they will be well-attended. People now have three services to choose from instead of two. With that in mind: We will have two services on Christmas Eve this year, 10AM and 8PM. The 10AM service will be our Family Worship & Pageant and the 8PM will be our Candlelit Service of Lessons & Carols. Please make note of those times, they are different from what we traditionally do when Christmas Eve does not fall on a Sunday. I hope you are able to make time on Christmas Eve to celebrate with your church family!
Many many blessings as you gather with your family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving!
See you on Sunday,
