Welcome to the RCC Church School Program!
During the school year, we offer care and Christian Education for all ages Nursery through Grade 12. We begin our Church School year on Rally Day, September 11th, with an introduction to the teachers during the service, first day of classes, and a celebratory Potluck Cookout after service and class. We will supply the hamburgers, hotdogs, and drink, you bring the sides and desserts. Please stay and enjoy the food and games!

We meet each week except for holidays or other occasions as specified (see calendar), and finish our year with a special children's service and celebration on Children's Day. This year it will be on June 3, 2012.

We begin each week all together upstairs at the 10:00AM service. After the Prayer of Confession, there is a Children's Message, and then all the students, teachers, and helpers are dismissed to their classes: Nursery through Grade 8 are located downstairs, Senior High (grades 9-12) meets in Fellowship Hall (there is no Senior High on communion weeks). Class downstairs lasts until 11:15 and children must be signed out by a parent/guardian to be released; Senior High finishes at 11:00 (when service lets out). It is important to note that each week we have class, we need a volunteer helper in each class, for safety and support!

During the school year, our Nursery is staffed with a caregiver, and parents have the option of staying with their young child, or leaving him/her with the caregiver but taking a pager, so they can be reached if needed. During the summer and on holiday weekends, the Nursery is unstaffed, but open for use (see calendar).

Separate from Church School, we also offer Youth Group activities to the older children in the church, grouped by age: Middle School (Grades 5&6), Junior High (Grades 7&8), and Senior High (Grades 9- 12). These groups are registered for separately; more information can be found on the Youth Group page.

VBS - THANK YOU!
To all the adults and Jr/Sr High members who contributed to making our SCUBA VBS a great success this year, and to all the children who participated. We had record numbers - 43 kids participating, 15 Jr & Sr High students leading and teaching, and ~10 adults leading, teaching, decorating, preparing and serving, photographing, chaperoning,... whatever needed! It really was a wonderful family experience.

The children studied Bible stories teaching them to Believe in God, Obey God, Know God, Trust God, and Share God's Love, and they learned memory verses to reinforce the lessons:

DAY STORY BIBLE MEMORY VERSE
1 Noah & the Ark But you are the only true God. Jeremiah 10:10
2 Jonah & the Whale Here is what is means to love God. It means that we obey his commands. 1 John 5:3
3 Jesus is Baptized A voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, and I love you. With you, I am well pleased.” Mark 1:11
4 Jesus Walks on Water Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
5 Jesus Instructs his Disciples to be Fishers of men Go into all the world. Preach the good news to everyone. Mark 16:15

During the week, the children climbed inside a whale, learned new songs (and belted out some old ones!), enjoyed some great activities and snacks, shared prayer time with Rev. Sarah each day, and witnessed Bruce taking a pie in the face! Each day the children also contributed to a School Supplies collection to benefit the Rehoboth Helping Hands Food Pantry. A photo album from the week is in the Narthex, so be sure to take a peek. Photographs will also be put on the website soon, too!

VIDEO LENDING LIBRARY -
The Church school has a wonderful selection of movies (VHS and DVD) for children and families that you are invited to borrow. The Movie Cart is located in the Church School area. The Book Cart is currently being updated and will soon be available as well. Contact me with any questions.

IMPORTANT - Cancellation Notification Procedure for Weather/Church (School) Cancellation:
In the event of needing to cancel Church School (weather, other emergency), I will send out an email to all as soon as I know (usually that is not until late Sat. night or early Sun morning). Cancellation information will also be available on the church website (www.rehobothucc.org), and a phone message at the church (508-252-4545) usually pretty early. If you don't hear through any of those means, you can call me to check, 508-252-4413. (Usually Church Service and Church School are canceled together, but there have been bad weather occasions when a service was still offered but there was no Church School.)
